HPV and Chocolate

Chocolate is full of antioxidants, alkaloids and epicatechin oligomers but all we need to know is that these ingredients may fight the dreaded HPV(Human Papilloma Virus) according to Cacao Biotechnologies, NY.

HPV is the most common STD in the US at the moment and 24 million sexually active Americans carry it presently. It is the main cause of cervical cancer which affects 12,000 women in the US every year. As of yet, there are preventative measures in place but no cures exist.

Phase 1 clinical trials will hopefully commence in approximately 6 months. Because the chocolate derived molecules that Cacao Biotechnologies use are 100% natural, they are deemed safe so the trials can be carried out in a shorter space of time than other drug trials and will cost a lot less in addition. The company are preparing their application to the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). Marketing chocolate as an antiviral might not be that far off yet.

Biased Notion on STD Test

People more often consider the regular medical and dental health check up important. Actually, schools and different companies conduct an annual health check up for employees which consist only of the medical and dental. Talking about medical check up, it does not include psychological and sexual health check up. We give more importance to those which we consider are normally important. There are negative things attached to other check up. For example, if one undergoes a psychological test or psychiatric test, people assume immediately that there is something seriously wrong with a person. As we often say, the person may have a mental illness. It is the same with sexual health examination. If one undergoes an Online STD test, people will think that the person has a sexually transmitted disease. We discriminate people who take such test because we are already biased. If one goes to a dentist, we don’t immediately conclude that the person has an aching tooth. Many see a dentist for cleaning and regular maintenance of their teeth. When we talk about STD tests, we do not say that it is for maintenance purposes. However, we cannot blame people for thinking of these things because it is already given that the STD Test is for people with sexually transmitted disease. Only people with sexually transmitted disease take it. However, there are patients who undergo an STD test just to be sure that they are clean. Though they have only one sexual partner, they cannot assume that their partner is faithful to them. These are just true biased notions on STD Test.
